DRIFFIELD 22 – 45 LYMM
Lymm travelled over to East Yorkshire for a pre season warm up match with Driffield, who play at level 6 in North One East Division. The hosts finished 2nd in this Division at the end of last season and narrowly lost a play off with Wilmslow of North One West, for promotion to join Lymm in North Premier Division.
With a number of players unavailable for the trip, coach Adam Fletcher took a 22 man squad to face a good Driffield side, who were keen to test themselves against Level 5 opposition. Coach Fletcher summarised the game as follows.
“After a tough 6 weeks on the training pitch, I wanted the lads to go out and enjoy themselves and they produced a really positive performance. We played 3 x 25 minute sessions and moved the ball well, with some good tries coming from Reece Forrest x2, Adam Bray, Matty Hand, Ali Sutherland, Scott Redfern and Rory Riddell. Cormac Nolan kicked 5 conversions. We thank Driffield for hosting the game and their hospitality and wish them all the best for the forthcoming season.
Enjoying the Scarborough sea air
“We now have a good indication of where we are and what we need to improve on before our next fixture. After the game we travelled over to sunny Scarborough for some well earned beers.”
