Lymm Rugby Club hosted their inaugural schools festival on Monday 1st July.

Teams from Cherry Tree, High Legh, Ravenbank, Statham and St Oswald’s Promary Schools visited Lymm Rugby Club with 70 kids in total playing touch rugby.

The kids were joined by Mr Joe Kerwin (Head of PE Lymm High School), Mr Ed Randall (Schools Manager Sale Sharks Foundation) who both agreed the future rugby talent on show was impressive.

The event was organised by Ian Cope (Lymm RFC Minis Chair) to support those in years 5 and 6 as an introduction to rugby with a view to support the transition from primary to high school sport.

The kids were coached / refereed by 4 of the victorious Cheshire Cup winning Lymm Rugby Club colts who were keen to pass on their rugby skills to the next generation.

Club manager Alan Troy even laid on hot dogs for the kids to provide the true Lymm Rugby Club experience.

Lymm Rugby Club remain committed to supporting kids introduction to rugby with over 400 minis & juniors who help provide the back bone of the successful 1st team who are enjoying their best ever period having achieving a place in the national 2’s despite remaining an amateur club.  In fact the present England scrum half Alex Mitchell played at Lymm Rugby Club as a youngster!
