After what seems to be an interminable period of lockdown, Lymm Rugby Club emerges with a full schedule of enthusiastic training and rugby games.
A superb ‘Ready 4 Rugby’ tournament took place two weeks ago on the Artificial Grass Pitch with over 70 senior and Colts players taking part. Additionally, on May 1st from noon, an Intra-squad match has been arranged, involving all First and Second team squad members.
The Mini and Junior sections have already commenced training with sessions held on both the AGP and pitches every Sunday from 9.30am, and the season has been extended to Sunday 30th May.
The Senior and Colts squads have a multi-game home fixture with Wirral RFC arranged for Saturday 8th May involving Mixed Colts, Social, 2s and 1st XV, from 1pm. A return fixture at Wirral has also been agreed on Saturday May 22nd, KO 3pm. Similar fixtures with Northwich RFC are also under discussion, provisionally for June 5th.
Senior training has been enjoyed for a few weeks, with up to 80 players attending, and are held every Tuesday night from 7pm. This includes the Colts Academy, Senior squad and social teams all training, and social touch rugby takes place from 8.15pm.
A social team has also been entered into the Macclesfield Sevens on 10th July and a 1st team squad will compete in the Bowdon Sevens on July 24th. Planning for the senior squad for next season has already started, and the management is looking at potential pre-season friendlies.
‘Our players are excited about getting back on the pitch and competing once more,’ commented Director of Rugby, Adam Fletcher. ‘All new players are welcomed with open arms for what looks like another exciting season at Lymm Rugby Club.’
