Lymm RFC were delighted that six of its Colts players were part of the squad that represented Cheshire in their recent campaign against Yorkshire, Durham & Lancashire.
Alexander Mukherjee, Ben Youlden Cole, Hamish Scott Herron, Jacob Mungai, Oscar Bode Hey and Will Day have all come through the mini’s and juniors section and latterly the Lymm Academy.
Round 1 played at Billingham rugby club saw Cheshire secure a win against Yorkshire. A close & fiercely fought battle that resulted in Cheshire securing a 20-19 win. This was a great start to Cheshire’s campaign following a loss against Yorkshire last season in the final U17s counties fixture in May.
Round 2, initially scheduled to be played at Carlisle rugby club was moved to Preston Grasshoppers to try and ensure the game went ahead due to deteriorating weather. Unfortunately, the inclement weather prevailed, forcing this 2nd round vs Durham on the 18th of December to be cancelled.
Round 3 played at Lymm Rugby club, saw Cheshire secure a strong 21-10 victory against Lancashire in what was an exciting & physical game played in difficult, wet conditions. Both teams displayed some superb rugby in the opening game of the day setting the tone for the good standard of rugby in the following 2 games, which were equally as entertaining.
Lymm rugby club & all its members are extremely proud of these 6 players, and they are a testament to the fantastic coaching & nurturing environment at our club.
These boys are a credit to us and an inspiration for our younger age group players.
We thank the Cheshire U17/18 Coaching set up for developing and giving these lads the opportunity to showcase their skills.
We wish these young men all the success in their rugby journeys and hope to see them featuring in our senior squads soon.
