Lymm Touch Rugby just goes from strength to strength.
We have 2 pieces of good news which we should all be proud of.
Simon Ince
Although it hasn’t been officially announced yet, but will be in the next few days.
Simon Ince has been appointed by the ETA as head coach for England Men’s 50s Touch team. The appointment for this new age category for England (GB 50s who he played for in the World Cup was because none of the home nations ran a team) is for the run up to the 2023 World Cup.
He will be selecting the squad this weekend at Nationals as well as being player captain for the NW Men’s 45s team.
It may be a short lived position as the ETA don’t want player coaches if possible and he is hoping to make the England 50s team for next years European Championships in Nottingham
They will be training once a month in the run up to the Euros in July 2023.
Young Players
Following on from our 4 recent Lymm players selected for England and Great Britain, Two young Lymm Touch Rugby players have become the latest club members to play representatives rugby. The boys helped the North West Under 15 boys team to finish third in the recent National Touch Competition held in St Ives Cambridgeshire. The team just missed out on a place in the final by one score!
