Players of the Season Awards
‘We held a Zoom Virtual Awards Dinner last Friday (1/5/20), and the award winners are worthy of the accolades after a tough, shortened, but very rewarding season.’
Adam Fletcher DoR, Lymm RFC
Winners
1st XV Impact Player of the Season Award: James Lewis
This was a straight shoot-out between Joe Senior and James Lewis. Both made a great impact this season but James just nudged it.
Coaches Player of the Season Award – Steve Pilkington
Coaches Player was a tough one this season as a number of boys had a really good season. Steve Pilkington got the nod due to a number of really devastating performances. The last few games of the season he was almost unplayable.
Players’ Player of the Season Award: Co-winners, Cormac Nolan and Nathan Beesley
The Players’ Player for the first time was shared. Cormac and Nathan were a few votes ahead of the chasing pack but they couldn’t be separated.
Nathan scored 14 tries in 18 appearances and was a huge threat on the wing. Cormac found himself playing a third of the season out of position at scrum half. His performances were outstanding for us especially as he’d never played there before.
The Adam Cox Award – Adam Bray
The Adam Cox Award is a new award, in memory of our late friend and team mate Adam Cox, and is given to the player who shows a lot of the qualities that Adam showed as a player, and in life.
Adam Bray is the perfect recipient of this award as, over the past five seasons as captain, he has showed complete dedication to the role, along with 100% attitude and commitment to his playing duties.
2nd XV Coaches Player of the Season – Rory Riddell
Rory was superb all season. He played week in week out even though he studies in Leeds. He scored a lot of tries for the 2’s and also impressed when playing for the 1’s.
2nd XV Young Player of the Season – Harry Ratcliffe
Harry deserves this as playing in the front row at only 18 years of age against some really experienced players is tough. He more than held his own and played his way into contention for a 1st XV place.
Eagles Captain’s Player of the Season – Jim France
Jim made the most appearances for the season, played a multitude of positions, never complained, always reliable, put in some decent performances too and, most importantly, never missed a social outing!
