Pre Season News – Player Retention, Recruitment & Injury Update
Player Retention
We are pleased to announce that we have retained all of last season’s playing squad and added some new faces for 2019-2020.
We are also very happy to promote 6 players from the Colts Academy into the senior squad: James Rooney, George Norman, Joe Johnson, Josh Hadland, Alfie Simpson & Joe Senior all dipped their toes into 1st XV rugby at the back end of last season and have all expressed an interest to play this season. All 6 impressed massively in what was a tough end to the season.
James, George, Joe J & Alfie will all hopefully get the grades they need so they can go and study at uni, therefore their game time will be limited. Joe S & Josh Hadland are staying local, so will hopefully be available on a weekly basis. It’s great to have this production line of talented youngsters at our disposal.
New Recruits
We are very pleased to welcome Nathan Beesley who joins us from Warrington RUFC.
Nathan is a prolific winger, scoring over 90 tries in a little over 100 appearances for Warrington RUFC in North West One. An ex Lymm High School pupil, Nathan knows many of the players, the club and the area well.
Head Coach Fletcher had this to say about his new recruit.
“Nathan has been on our radar for the last few seasons. His pace and try scoring ability is what stands out but after meeting with Nathan, his attitude & knowledge also really impressed us. We are very excited to see Nathan in a Lymm shirt. I’m sure he will settle in well at the club and have a great impact on the senior squad.”
James Yates returns to the club after a year playing for Bedford Athletic.
We are equally pleased to announce the return of James Yates to the senior squad. James moved to Bedford 12 months ago with work, he quickly settled in at Bedford Athletic and cemented his place in the 1st XV.
Head coach Fletcher had this to say about the return of James.
“ ‘Yatesy’ is a top clubman and has performed well for both our 1st and 2nd XV’s over many seasons. He will fit straight back into the senior squad, adding competition for places in the engine room.”
