Senior Colt achieves the England Rugby Coaching Award

Hamish Scott-Herron a member of the 2022/23 Senior Colts squad and Sale Shark Acadamy, achieved his ERCA- England Rugby Coaching Award on June 12th 2022 whilst still a Junior Colt.

Hamish has always voluntarily given his time to help others in the Sport he is so passionate about and more importantly loves playing. Last October Hamish unfortunately sustained an injury which meant he was unable to play for a few months. Obviously although incredibly disappointed he could not play he decided he wanted to utilise this time effectively doing something within rugby.

After speaking to his coaches at Lymm and Sale Sharks he decided to enrol on the England Rugby Coaching Award course which would mean he would be able to coach from U12 upwards.

The course started November 2021 and finished June 2022 and consisted of two face to face days with assessments; webinars, online learning and research. Hamish also did ‘on the job’ training helping and supporting the U14 and U15 at Lymm High School and his team mates, the Junior Colts Forwards at Lymm Rugby Club.

Hamish was commended on his extensive knowledge and how he transferred that into effective and safe coaching sessions.

Not many 17 year olds achieve this award.
