Successful Ladies Lunch

The Presidents Wife , Kate Newton, ably assisted by Christine Rule, held a ladies lunch prior to the recent first team home game against Wilmslow. Around 40 Ladies enjoyed complimentary prosecco and a fabulous buffet provided by the Terrace in Lymm.

The day was also a celebration of Women and Rugby and we were fortunate to have 3 guest speakers.
Pam Taegr – England Touch Ladies International, Sarah Burns from Sale Ladies and Paula Bradbury, also of Sale Ladies but who will also be the first lady Chairman of Cheshire RFU from June 2019.

The 3 ladies told the audience about their entry into rugby and something about their training regime and squad commitments at the elite end of the game. Paula also said there is lots of support from Cheshire RFU in getting a ladies team off the ground, but suggested that Touch rugby is a good starting point.

After 3 very inspiring talks, there was certainly a great deal of enthusiasm particularly among the wives and girlfriends of current players to start playing touch in the summer.
