Lymm Senior Colts Yield to Kirkby Lonsdale

Having missed a couple of weeks’ rugby due to a depleted squad mainly through injuries, Lymm Senior Colts entertained Kirkby Lonsdale at Beechwood in their 5th Halbro League Preliminary game.

Lymm were not only missing key personnel, but also had no substitutes, so had to play with a tight 15, including some players playing out of position.

The first half saw Lymm open the scoring, which was quickly responded to by Kirkby Lonsdale. There was parity between both teams, where defensively, Lymm held strong with Kirkby Lonsdale also matching the exchange of battle around the park. Kirkby Lonsdale keen to dominate, managed to beat Lymm’s defence to score their 2nd try. Lymm responded with another try through superb back line distribution before Kirkby Lonsdale secured their 3rd try before the half ended.

A close half where each side was clearly not keen to back down.

The 2nd half saw a tiring Lymm succumb to KL pressure. Lymm kicked off and the visitors quickly scored from Lymm’s poor & lethargic defence. The KL dominance continued, allowing them to score 2 further tries. Lymm had to dig deep and credit has to be given for holding strong & not allowing further easy tries.

A tough afternoon for Lymm with some lessons learnt. 

Final Score 38-12 to Kirkby Lonsdale.
