Under 15’s Reach Cheshire Cup Final in Tense Nailbiter

Lymm’s U15s have reached the final of the Cheshire Cup after a thrilling semi-final victory at Sale FC.

Lymm went behind early on, conceding a penalty in the first few minutes and Sale extended their lead with a try shortly afterwards. The game was hard-fought in every area and both sides showed tenacity at breakdowns. Lymm were expansive and passed with flair when the opportunity arose. The teams traded scores with Sale in front for most of the game, but the Lymm lads showed great resilience and fought back to level the game. With the clock running down, Sale had a long penalty to win with the last kick of the game but fell just short.

The final score was 17 points each, and the competition rules state that if teams are level on tries and conversions, then the away team goes through. Credit to Sale FC’s players, coaches and parents who took their loss in great spirit.

The Under 15 Cheshire Cup Final will take place at Wirral on 4th May, where Lymm will play Macclesfield.
